Summary: A scenic, somewhat hidden falls near the shores of Lake Erie. Not exactly secluded, being next to the interstate, but worth a stop if you are in the area.

Chair Factory Falls is located about 2 miles south of Painesville Ohio. It can be reached via a .3 mile trail off of the Lake Metroparks Greenway Corridor. Much like the nearby Paine Creek Falls, it is right next to I-90. It may actually be possible to see the falls from the side of the highway, but I cannot say for sure.

This is a two tiered falls with an interesting shape to it. I am guessing that Jordan Creek gets pretty thin in the summer, and probably even the late spring. Most of the pictures I have seen of the falls feature snow cover, much like my own photos.

To reach the falls take the exit 200 on I-90, on to Route 44. Head south and take the first right on to Auburn Road, then the next right on to Concord Hambden Road. Follow this for 1.1 miles then take a right (north ) on Ravenna Road. After a fifth of a mile there will be a parking area on your right. This is the Old Stone School trail head. From the parking lot, walk east to reach the pathway, turn left and walk north for about a quarter mile to the Chair Factory Falls trailhead. This is well marked. The trail to the falls is not paved. The trail is mostly level, except for the last stretch which descends down to the falls.

There are guard rails at the falls, and lots of signs telling you to stay on the trail, so there limited opportunity for adventure here. Getting to the base of the falls is not permitted.

[Cleveland Area] Nearby Falls

Paine Creek Falls is about 5 miles to the east. The many Cleveland area falls are 40 miles to the west.

This is one of the odder names I have seen for a waterfall. A long time ago there was a chair factory here that was powered by the falls. It burned down in the early 1900s. The land was aquired by the park in 2010.
